Officially organized in June 2008, Kiwanis Uptown was founded by a group of young professionals who wanted to better their community under the Kiwanis International umbrella. Kiwanis International is a global organization of members of every age who are dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. There are nearly 8,000 clubs in 96 countries; 260,000+ adult members; and almost 320,000 youth members involved with Kiwanis.

The Kiwanis Uptown club prides itself on being the perfect conduit between Circle K (the collegiate arm of Kiwanis) and the traditional Kiwanis club. That's why, in 2011, we elected to join forces with the Kiwanis Club of Charlotte, dubbing our group as a satellite club.

Accomplishments to Date

• Members dedicate 400+ hours of service to the Charlotte community each year.
• Through various fundraisers, our club has raised more than $10,000 for local children's organizations.
• Quarterly drives provide organizations in-need with canned goods, school supplies, toiletry kits, etc.
• In the past four years, Kiwanis Uptown has partnered with the following organizations: Ace & TJ's Grin Kids, Boys and Girls Club, Presbyterian Children's Hospital, Kiwanis Key Leader, Trips for Kids, Byers Elementary, Family Promise, Kiwanis Pediatric Cancer Fund, Hearts and Hands Playground, Adopt-a-Family, Sedgefield Middle School, Youth Homes, The Relatives and more.

To join, dues are $120 annually (paid in January). Your annual dues payment covers Kiwanis International dues, Carolina Kiwanis District dues and Kiwanis Uptown club dues in addition to the rewards that come with being a part of such a large, civic organization.
